A design inspired by the Robert Kaufman/ Fabric 8 contest on Spoonflower. The theme is watercolour and ink.

Hand drawn in black fineliner, layered with watercolour washes I scanned into Photoshop.

I imagined a sort of inner sunrise, quietly growing in calming, introspective shades of indigo and violet. The linework is inspired by the Indian wedding Mehndi (henna tattoo) designs.

The titles of the designs in this collection are lyrics from Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles.

ROY G (and white) BIV… Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue Indigo, Violet. The colors of a rainbow (and chakras) arranged in the order of decreasing wavelengths. See here for more about ROYGBIV. And if you really have nothing to do, here’s the "Roy G. Biv" song by They Might Be Giants.

I love these colors, now it just needs some deeper greens.
